Hello

My name is Karolina Olofsson and I am a BACP registered Psychotherapist who is committed to offer a high standard of professional and compassionate therapeutic care. Committed to the ethical standards of the British Psychological Association and BACP, I provide integrative psychotherapy, mindfulness and meditation online. I am currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology but have previous training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), existential psychotherapy, trauma and psychosexual therapy.

My Story

A child of two worlds and bridge builder between sectors and generations, I learned to navigate vast cultural differences and perspectives. I am half Swedish and half Peruvian and have spent most of my adult life in Asia and Africa. Navigating different contexts pushed me to refine my communication and negotiation skills, flexibility and adjustability. For the first 15 years of my professional life I worked in international development, primarily in post-conflict countries. The exposure to volatility, inequality and conflict  strengthened my resilience, stress tolerance and problem solving skills. Observing the macro challenges of this world, led me to psychology. I wanted to help people who wanted to be the change in their own lives. I am a curious individual and ravenous reader who enjoys travelling, cooking, new experiences, photography, nature, yoga, meditation and writing. Currently live in Norway with my partner and our lovely malamute, Dea.

Counselling Psychology

I hold a MSc in Psychology from the University of Liverpool, UK and I am currently working towards my Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from  Middlesex University in London, UK (2024, intended). Have certificates (BPS approved) in 3rd Wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Suicide Intervention by LivingWorks ASIS and NSSF in Norway.

Psychotherapy

Have BPS approved training in existential psychotherapy by NSPC and in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) by SDS in London, UK. I also have a level 5 certification in Psychosexual Therapy accredited by the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists. I work both with individuals and couples in integrative way.

Trauma Therapy

Have a certification (Level 6) and ongoing diploma (Level 7) in trauma therapy from the Grove in London, UK. I am a Level 2 EFT Accredited Practitioner and trained to release emotional charges and distress through tapping and bilateral exercises. I also have a certificate by the European Society for Trauma and Dissociation on Complex Traumatic Dissociation.

Professional Experience

I have experience working with vulnerable clients who struggled with psychosis, schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder and dissociative disorders, amongst other with Frontline Therapists and Circles South East in London. During my time at Lysne Psykology and Terapivakten in Oslo, Norway, I worked with clients who struggled with relationship problems, anxiety, depression, burnout, family dynamics, suicidality, eating disorders, interpersonal difficulties, social anxiety and sexual issues. As part of KonTerra Group in the US, I also work with professionals in stress management, life and work transitions, trauma, conflict management, identity issues, career challenges, loss and work/life balance.
